Kyanite is a mineral that is mainly found in metamorphic rocks. Often it forms from high-pressure alteration of clay during metamorphism of sedimentary rocks. Its usual habit is that of bladed crystals, but sometimes forms as radiating masses. Kyanite has a wealth of uses in the industrial world. Being one of the few minerals that will not explode, but instead expand, when put into contact with high heat, it’s often used in ceramics, like your toilet or sink. Kyanite in gem format is not common, but absolutely stunning. For jewelry, kyanite gemstones are one of the more difficult stones to cut due to differing strengths through the mineral.
Metaphysical: Those who practice metaphysical or energy healing believe kyanite facilitates meditation.
