Citrine
Citrine is a variety of quartz whose color ranges from pale yellow to brown due to a submicroscopic distribution of colloidal ferric hydroxide impurities. Natural citrines, like the crystal pictured, are very rare. Most citrine you see on the market is actually heat treated amethyst or smoky quartz. Natural citrine has a yellow to green/brown hue in coloration, and will be quite clear. Many times citrine and amethyst can be found together in the same crystal. This is known as Ametrine. Naturally, it gets its beautiful coloration from trace amounts of iron inside of the quartz. The iron then oxidizes in the quartz and creates the coloration. Amethyst and citrine are usually the same substances, but in different forms of oxidization.
Metaphysical: Those who practice metaphysical healing or energy work believe that citrine assists in happiness and optimism.
