Bumble Bee Jasper
Bumble Bee Jasper is a fibrously grown calcite. The darker coloration seen on this mineral is actually a stain caused by pyrite. Despite the name, it contains little to no quartz and is not technically a jasper. It grows from a central point outward, compared to large crystal formations that calcite generally causes. The coloration occurs from realgar, which has a large amount of arsenic in it. Many minerals contain toxic inclusions in them, but when polished the quartz caps this in and makes it safe to handle. Bumble bee jasper does not cap over with quartz, making it dangerous to handle. Proper precaution would be to wash your hands, or wear gloves, during and after handling bumble bee jasper. This being said, we’ve never heard of anyone becoming ill after handling bumble bee jasper. Precautions should be taken regardless!
Metaphysical: Those who practice metaphysical healing believe this mineral perfects your spiritual alignment and removes bad energy blockages.
